Project: For this dramatic kitchen makeover the cabinetry was refaced, transforming the traditional honey oak kitchen to an updated alder wood species with a sleek dark finish. The door style was modernized from the cathedral arch to a custom shaker style panel with a beaded interior route. The crown moulding was replaced with a taller profile and moulding was added to the base of the upper cabinets to act as a light rail. New Cambria (quartz) countertops were installed, replacing the existing laminate with oak trim. Some additional custom alterations were made to the kitchen cabinets. We removed the cabinet above the range that housed the microwave and it was replaced with a new stainless steel hood. Modifications were then made to the existing island for new undercounter pullout microwave. The island in its contrasting finish also had moulding added to look like raised panels and a corbel as support for the extended overhang on the new top. Finally, on the end of an existing bank of cabinetry new custom cabinets were added extending countertop space and acting as open display/storage.
